The risks of using custom tokens

Every token has its own unique Smart Contract. By default, the ParaSwap UI shows only a selection of tokens, but it is possible to also import custom tokens to swap.

Because anyone can make their own custom token contract, you should be extremely careful when importing one, as ParaSwap has no way of verifying its safety. Many tokens clone another token’s appearance to scam users, since this token has no real value. Additionally, functions in the code could be malicious and aimed at draining user funds.

For this reason, we recommend custom token usage only for experienced users who are aware of the risks above and able to verify the custom token contracts using the corresponding chain explorer.
